People usually takes pictures from eye level while they are standing up . It is ok to take pictures from eye level but do not forget to try shooting from different heights angles or you end up with ordinary and boring photographs by taking every shoot from the same level.
Sometimes bend on your knees or lie on your belly, pictures taken from low can be very impressive. or sometimes climb to a higher location to look your subject from a different perspective. The point is showing the world to the people with different perspectives that they do not see before. This is the difference of photographer, showing different sides of subjects that people generally don’t see.
When you are shooting portraits, try to keep your camera in the same level with the model’s eyes or head. Try this when you are photographing the children you will see the difference yourself. Children are short and everybody looks them form top, if you take the shot when you are standing up, it will be a ordinary view, but you can show the world from children’s eyes by bending down on your knees. Look at these two pictures, i bended on my knees and took the picture from the same level with “Flute Player” while taking the first picture , and in the second picture i was far away from subject and shooted while i was standing up. You decide which one is more impressive
Also in the landscape and nature photography also try shooting from low. Results can be nice, as in this example;
Also some pictures can be quite unique and interesting when they are taken form higher grounds both for portrait and landscape (or any other kind of) photography.
