Weather is an important factor in photography, unless you are taking pictures indoors such as a studio. Weather effects the amount of light in the environment, colors and tones, so it has a serious effect on your pictures. In a sunny day colors and shadows create high contrast images while in a cloudy day contrast is low and everything looks a little bit grey.

Also weather affects the feeling of your picture, a sunny spring or a summer day is provides a good condition for you to show feelings of fun, happiness and being energetic while a cloudy or a rainy day of autumn helps you to create sorrowful, sad images.

A good day for photography does not necessarily means a sunny cloudless day. Also a rainy, cloudy or stormy day can create different and stunning scenes for you to capture. I believe, they are even better for landscape and city&urban photography. Why? Because they mostly award us with unusual scenes, a scene can be more interesting in “bad” weather conditions compared to a sunny day. Being unusual and creative is important in order to come up with successful results in terms of photography.

Especially, i advise you to go out after rain, sunshine coming out between spreading clouds makes perfect scenes for photography. Try it after a rainy day, probably your results will be different and nicer than before.

Some of you will remember the “Istanbul” pictures of mine; take a look at these examples which are NOT taken in sunny weather. Do you think i could create the same effect in a sunny day? I don’t think so.
