Canon 50D is on the way, according to rumours it is coming in spring 2009. (5 April 2009). It will have 12 Megapixel sensor and will offer ISOs up to 3200 (Still not 6400). Also it will be sealed even stronger than 40D. Photography community is waiting impatiently to see this new member of Canon Family.
To be honest i don’t think there is a huge technological jump or improvement in 50D considering 40D. 50D only has 2 more megapixels. I cannot see anymore significant difference. Actually the megapixel difference is not a big deal for me. If you agree with this idea, i suggest you to consider buying 40D when 50D is released. It will be much more cheaper than now. But unfortunately you have to wait until April 2009, to do that.
It is told that 60D will have some revolutionary improvements such as processor and signal processor improvements. Possible Release Date; 2010

Having recently upgraded from the 400D to the 40D, I will see no need to upgrade to a 50D for the sake of a couple of extra megapixels and maybe a couple more AF points. The 40D is a marvellous camera, solid, rugged, and 6.5 fps. In a word - Awesome.
Now the 60D, thats another story…At least I’ll have time to save up.
